What are roles and groups?
An unlimited number of roles and groups can be created in FloMembers membership management.
Roles
Roles (and their fees) can be created and edited in Register > Manage roles.
You can assign one or more roles to a person. Role categories are:
- Member roles
- for example, "full member" and "honorary member"
- persons with at least one paid membership role are included in the annual member invoicing
- Subscriber roles
- for example, "annual subscriber" and "continuous subscriber"
- persons with at least one paid subscriber role are included in the annual subscriber invoicing
- Other roles
- persons who are not members or subscribers (e.g. "supporter")
- Group roles
- roles that can be assigned within a group (e.g. "chairman" in the Board group)
- System roles
- roles that are automatically provided by the system
- Integration roles
- WordPress admin, i.e. the user who has full rights to manage the website
Groups
Groups can be created and edited from the main menu under Register > Manage Groups.
Groups can be used for both more permanent (e.g. "Board") and temporary purposes (e.g. "New members"). Groups make it easy, for example, to send SMS messages to a limited number of people.
You can add any number of people to a group, regardless of their roles.
Hierarchy of groups
When you edit a group, you can mark it as a sub-group of another group under "Parent groups". A group can be a subgroup to more than one parent group.
Deleting groups
Groups can be deleted under Register > Manage groups. Deleting a group does not remove its members from the register.
Filtering persons
If necessary, groups can also be used to exclude people. For example, you can create a group "No contact" and choose in the main view to exclude from the filtering those who belong to this group.
